Hailing from a town famed forits elaborate wood carving and sculptures, Benjamin Dailo is no stranger to exemplary craftsmanship.
Yet unlike any reinvents a medium typically assicuated with traditional themes.

With a keen eye for detail matched with a sense of bold aesthetic, he renders his works in driftwood he finds washed ashore, transforming oft-ignored sea depris into a woork of pure visual elegance.

Dailo takes inspiration from the nature of driftwood in breathing life into his creations. Deviating from common religious themes aften associated with wooden sculptures - as Paese, Laguna is celebrated for - he hones the driftwood into stunning physical forms and aspect of the feminine.

Dailo is best known for his strong and impressive renditions of child-dearing woman, a fundamental symbol of nurture and strength of the woman.

Dailo joined his Creator in heaven last May 01 2017 and this sculpture is one of his last piece of artworks.
